The Story & Community

By leveraging emergent storytelling, featured alongside the gameplay through missions, easter eggs, and interactables rich in lore I was able to build a narrative thread connecting the themes of Destabilized’s story while presenting them to their core audience.

Through organic marketing efforts, I created the social media and community strategy for the studio. I set up the marketing tech stack, pipeline and execution of an ongoing promotional campaign featuring vertical video content, a gameplay trailer and behind-the-scenes sneak peaks for our Discord community.

Emergent. Fun. Corporate.

Storytelling in a multiplayer game is unpredictable. Instead of charting a linear path, our core design team identified the different player archetypes to craft moments in quests, missions and objectives that they’re likely to engage with.

Using Articy Draft, I was able to set guidelines and create a first pass of the player tutorial featuring the different activities each member of the Discovery Team can engage in.

The Story of GeoDesX

The GeoDesX Corporation sits at the center of the story of Destabilized. In collaboration with the game director, creative director and game designer we were able to create and document a timeline going over the transformation of the company from a shared vision between two people, to an industry-leader in quantum engineering.

Highlights

  • Collaborated with programmers to identify the triggers and effects possible in an emergent, mission system in a multiplayer setting.

  • Owned the creation of characters, casting sheets and profiles describing their histories as well as their scripts.

  • Developed a narrative pipeline, using Articy Draft to flowchart missions, objectives and key moments of storytelling within gameplay.

  • Designed a first pass of the first-time user experience, minimizing the use of dialogue and leaning on environmental storytelling.
